FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

I’m having trouble running LDD on my Mac OSX 10.4

There's a bug with your system, that will not allow you to run LDD unless you follow the following steps:

  • Open the preference file located in: /Users//Library/Application Support/LEGO Company/LEGO Digital Designer/preferences.ini
  • Add the line:
    • PlaySound=no
  • Then Save the file.
  • Open LDD 3.0 and enjoy building

Does LEGO Digital Designer support Windows Vista and Windows 7?

Yes, Windows Vista and 7 is supported!

I have installed LEGO Digital Designer but every time I double-click the LEGO Digital Designer shortcut, nothing happens or I get an error. What is causing this?

This is because you have an outdated OpenGL driver on your system. To get a newer version, update the drivers for your graphics card. For information on how to update your graphics card drivers, consult with your machine manufacture.

How do I get updates to LEGO Digital Designer?

LDD automatically checks for updates when it starts and if there are any available you will be prompted to install them. These will automatically be downloaded if you choose "yes" in the dialog box.

When I open one of my existing models built in LEGO Digital Designer, I get a message saying that some bricks could not be loaded. What is causing this?

The brick palettes are automatically updated over the Internet when you start LDD. If the palette has been updated and the bricks you are trying to load are not in the new palette, you will get this message.

Why can't I purchase my model online?

Your computer has to be connected to the internet to buy your LEGO model with DesignBy Me. Check your internet connection to make sure you're online. If the small indicator on the LDD menu is red, you are not connected to the internet.

Can I run LDD with "Protect my computer and data" checked.

No. LDD cannot run with this option set, as LDD needs access to the application folder to save user specific data.
